Knowledge & white collar workers relocated to the suburbs, coastal towns, and the countryside to conduct remote work during the pandemic. Many urban families also made permanent moves out of NYC to the tri-state suburbs in search of more light, space and air.

To optimize the use of landscaped outdoor spaces for socializing and recreation, new homeowners are adding new features such as outdoor decks, pools, accessory structures, tennis, squash & basketball courts. The design responds contextually to the site and the architectural expression of the existing home. The floorplate extension, along with the new outdoor deck configuration serve to unify the massing and composition of the rear elevation.
